After the concert of the band "Auctioneer", held in honor of the anniversary of Oleg Alekseevich Garkusha, he agreed to give a short interview for Radio SHOCK.
- Judging by the enthusiastic applause and the happy audience, the concert was a success, in your opinion?
- Of course it was a success, yes. All our concerts are good. Of course, there are good ones, there are very good ones, and there are very, very good ones! This one was very, very good.
- Now you are a famous musician, but who did you want to become as a child?
- Well, as usual, like all children: a firefighter, a border guard, a policeman. From the age of 13-14, I was already interested in music, collecting records, running, buying around the city. I liked music. At the age of 19, he began to get interested in poetry. My favorite poets are the poets of the Silver Age: Khodasevich, Voloshin, Mandelstam.
- Do you try to imitate your favorite poets in the way you write?
- Of course not, based on my taste. It is written as it is written.
- Is there any plans to release a new album by the Auctioneer group in the near future?
- It has already been recorded, and mixing is underway. On the first of June, there will be a presentation of our new album in the Aurora Hall.
- What kind of music inspires you, what do you listen to?
- I listen to the music that I listened to in the eighties: Depeche Mode, for example. I don't really listen to modern music, except for the young performers participating in Garkundel-FEST.
- Is Garkundel a continuation of the traditions of the Leningrad Rock Club, or is it a completely different project?
- It's not even a project, it's my dream! I really wanted it to come true. Repairs are underway now, and I cannot say when we will open. Of course, there are certain echoes of the rock club: I would like people to come not only to concerts, but also to gather and communicate.
- I know that the Chart Dozen recently took place on Nashe Radio, and you were the host. Do you like it, is it easy or difficult?
- The role of a presenter is actually not as simple as it might seem at first glance. It's a big responsibility, but I've been doing this for many years and I'm actually quite comfortable in this role.
- Has your audience changed over the years, has it become different?
- Our audience is growing with us, our band is already 33 years old and those guys who were young have also matured. But our audience is diverse: from the youngest to people of advanced age.
- Do you think that such a direction as Russian rock has a future? What is Russian rock for you?
- Do you understand… Well, by analogy with the bands that were in the rock club at the time.: "Russians", "Argonauts", "Saint Petersburg", "Myths" are Russian rock. A little further on, there are already "CINEMA", "Aquarium", "Zoo" – this is the second wave. The third wave is "Strange games", "Auction", "NEP". And of course, all the bands that I have listed can be called Russian rock. "BI2", "SPLIN", and someone else - this is no longer a pop direction, but more accessible to the audience, but also Russian rock. Russian Russian rock is probably what bands that play and sing in Russian.
- Tell us some funny incident from the concert Life of the Auctioneer group.
- One day we had a big concert and a lot of people, we started playing and after a while all the electricity went out. It turned out that the chief electrician didn't seem to be working without a bottle, and he just turned off all the electricity! I had to put down the bottle, and the concert was played.
- Your band is credited with many musical styles and trends. And what do you think the Auctioneer band plays in?
- I agree with all musicologists, because there is not a single style like ours. There are a lot of elements in our music. I think with a clear conscience we can call it the "Auction" style, because I have never heard such a sound anywhere.
- What are your wishes for young musicians?
The most important thing is not to think about money or fame. Think about how to write a good song, perform it well - with drive, energy… And practice a lot!
